DETAILS:

The restaurant is located near Shibuya station
and it took us only 5 min to go there from statue of Hachiko.
The sign of the restaurant was easy to find
and here is the picture of how it looks like around the restaurant.

After we enter the restaurant, we were surprised
because there were impressive Thai ornament!
Here are the video and picture of it.

After we sit, we could find menu on the table.
The menu was like this.

Maho ordered Green Curry (¥1200).
We could choose the level of the spiciness and hostess said the green curry was spicy,
so we asked the hostess to make it milder.

It was very delicious and the more I ate the curry,  the more it tastes spicy.
I liked its coconut flavour.
Ingredients: Chicken, aubergine, bamboo shoot etc.

I ordered Phat Thai (¥1200),
because the hostess said Phat Thai was the most popular noodle in the restaurant.
Phat Thai is called the fried noodle Thai style.

It tastes salty-sweet and also I liked it.
Ingredients: beansprout, shrimp, deep-fried tofu, chinese chive, peanut etc.

We went there on the lunch time, so we had luch set.
This set includes salad, soup and dessert for free.

The salad tastes a little bit spicy like chili sauce.
Ingredients: a bean-starch vermicelli, onion, shrimp, scallion, carrot, cabbage etc.

The soup tastes a little bit acetic and the rice noodle is in it.
Ingredients: rice noodle, scallion, mashroom etc.

The dessert tastes like almond jelly and something like tapioca was in it.
Its coconut flavor was good and I loved it.

They really goes with jasmine tea.

During eating these dishes, we also enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant
and chatting. We could relax so much.

The decoration inside of the restaurant was like this.

The restroom was also clean and many decorations made the atmosphere of Thailand.

They are also particular about the floor like this.

In addition, Thai Garden was a wonderful restaurant.
The taste and quality of the dishes are perfect,
and though the amount of each dishes is so large, it costs just ¥1200 for each !
Moreover, the hostesses were very kind
and explained about each dish or the place of the restroom very kindly.
Also they are really good at speaking Japanese.
We got so full and satisfied!!

I really recommend you to go to this restaurant and I also want to go there again :)

Thank you for reading!!!!!

Genre Analysis : Visual Review

Hi ! This time, I will analyze the visual review of the restaurant, Tender Green Restaurant.
Here is the URL of the review.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyS6Bot8xhc

Analyzing Visual Review:

*What is focused on in the review?

she focused on taste of meals and ingredients used in the meal.
*How does it differ from the written review in presentation and content? What features does it have in common with them?

The difference from the written review was that we can watch and feel its atmosphere. For example, after I watched the video, I found that there are noisy inside of the restaurant and I sometimes couldn't hear what she said.
However, it had almost the same content and common feature that they explained about the access, taste and ingredient.
*Is the review neutral or partisan?

The review is neutral.
*Are chefs, owners, managers, or restaurant staff featured in the video? Do you think this was helpful in providing useful information about the restaurant or did it make the review too based?

Restaurant staff are featured in this video and we could watch the scene that the staff were making meals.
It was helpful video review.
*What is revealed about the reviewer and the culture?

She told us that it was difficult to find free parking area there, but the restaurant had free parking area, so I think it's convenient.
*What criticisms do you have of the video, either concerning the professionalism, production quality or the content?

The visual was clear without being blurred, but as I said there was so noisy inside of the restaurant that I sometimes couldn't hear what she said.
*Notice whether the voices of the speakers are monotonous or have a pleasing emphasis on certain words and phrases. How does that affect your understanding and enjoyment of it?

She had a pleasing emphasis on key words and phrases, so that I could enjoy her explanation.
*Are there any expressions or phrases that stand out in your mind after watching this video? What techniques or language would you like to use when filming your own video review?

There are no expressions or phrases that stand out in my mind, but she used a lot of words to explain its taste and it sounded very delicious, so I want to do like her.

Genre Analysis : Written Review

A happy new year!!!
Did you have a good winter vacation? I was eating a lot of mochi and osechi!

Today, I will analyze an review of the restaurant, The Providores.
Here is the URL of the review.
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/reviews/the-providores-restaurant-review-there-seem-to-be-eight-elements-to-each-main--and-thats-before-the-salt-and-pepper-9815178.html

Analyzing the written review:

*Does the reviewer show any special "insider" knowledge of the chefs or the restaurant's plans for the future?

Yes, he does.he wrote about the history of the founder, but he did not write about the plans for the future.

*What is the writing style of the review (flowery language, simple and "to the point," pretentious)?

The writing style is flowery language.
*From the type of restaurant being reviewed and from the style of writing, what would you guess about the readers of this newspaper?

I guess the readers are common people like us, because the cost of the meals are a little bit high for me, and the writer also explained that they costed a little bit high.
*Does the review include a convenient grid so that the reader can see, at a glance, such facts as the restaurant's location, the price range of menu items, wheelchair accessibility, etc.?

He wrote about the detail of the restaurant's location and the atmosphere inside the restaurant.
*What additional information can you find out about the restaurant from its Website? Does anything on the Website contradict what's written in the review? If so, describe it.

It doesn't contradict its website, but website has additional information that the restaurant is particular about wine.
*What did you learn about the values of the reviewer and cultural values through this review?

He often mentioned each price and quality, and he often judged whether it is worth paying the price, so the quality for the price is important for him.
*Based on the review, would you and your partner like to try this restaurant? Why or why not?

I want to try the restaurant because the meals there includes many ingredients that I have never heard. And also the restaurant has many Japanese foods, so I want to try them to know how the Japanese foods eaten in foreign countries taste like.

Interesting Short Movie

Hi! How are you doing?
These days, I cook dinner for my family!
Today, I cooked "tonjiru" which is Japanese soup and tastes like miso soup, and I cooked "gomokugohan" which is rice mixed with some chicken and vegetables.
Both are Japanese cuisines and I really like it, so I want many foreigners to try them.

Now let's move on to the main topic.
I am reading the book about African food and I am interested in African food.
Today, when I searched about African food on YouTube, I found a interesting short movie.

The woman in this video introduces a recipe of banana fritter which is African traditional food.
I have not heard the name, but the picture of it looks so delicious!!!

This blog includes many deails such as food-o-meter, mouthfuls, course, health rating, price and piece of hair of the foods, so it is interesting for me and it is easy to understand about not only the food but also the culture.

She uses various kind of visuals. For example, she uses many cute photos and she sometimes posts short videos. It attracts me a lot ans could read the blog without being bored.

Analyzing wonderful blog!

Hi! Yesterday, I went to Shibuya to eat some yakiniku with my three friends in my university. I had not eaten yakiniku for a long time, so I really enjoyed eating it.

The name of the restaurant I went yesterday was "Nikuya no Daidokoro", it means the kitchen of the meat market in English. The remarkable point of the restaurant is that it is a self-service store, so we can eat not only meat but also salad, rice, dessert and some dishes as much as we want. We can also mix some liqeur with water, soda or juice and make our favorite drink by ourselves and drink it as much as we want.
I really enjoyed it, so I recommend you going there.

Anyway, let's move on to the main topic. I am going to introduce a wonderful blog.
You can access the blog from this URL.  http://www.gluten-free-vegan-girl.com/
The name of the blog is "Gluten-Free-Vegan-Girl" and it is written by a 19-year-old girl.

REVIEW

*Quality
I do not know how other blogs look like, but I think the quality of this blog is so high. The purpose of the blog is to post her own recipes, but it includes not only recipes but also her comments and thoughts she had while she were making the dishes. These comments and thoughts may help us making the dishes easily.

*Usefulness
It is so useful because this blog includes many pictures so that we can easily imagine how the dishes look like. Also the description in recipes are so easy to understand, so though I am not good at cooking, I think I can make the dishes well.

*Visual attractiveness
As I said, this blog includes many pictures and the pictures look so delicious!! It attracts me so much. However, I think if there were more pictures of the steps of the recipe, it would help us understanding how to make it more easily.

*Accessibility of the language
I think the language she uses on her blog is so easy to follow. Also her way of using language attracts me because her language is so familiar. She is as old as me, so I sympathized with her idea. I want to be friends with her!

*How interesting is it to you personally?
It is so interesting because the dishes in her blog is so new for me and look very very delicious! Also her familiar language attracts me a lot. Also the template of the blog is very simple and clean, so it helps the pictures look more delicious.

I learned how to write food blog from her wonderful blog.
Thank you for reading!

Introducing My Book

Hi! I'm Shiori Kasahara!
I love eating and these days, I eat popcorn almost every night! I know it is not good for my health, but I cannot stop eating cheese and caramel popcorn!!! I really recommend you eating this!!! It tastes like popcorn sold in Garette Popcorn Shop, but it is much more reasonable than Garette's!! I always buy this in the supermarket near my home.

{DCC9FF5B-D540-464B-B71A-EF768E57AFA7:01}

Anyway, let me introduce about my book.
The title of my book is Food Culture in Sub-Saharan Africa. I am interested in African food because the food that is eaten in Africa looks so different from the food in Japan. I chose this book because by reading this book, we can know how the diverse African peoples grow, cook, and eat food and how they celebrate special occasions and ceremonies with special foods. This book also has many informations about African history, religions, and way of life, so I think I can learn deeply about African food culture through this book. I am not good at reading books, but this book has many pictures in it, so I think it will help my reading and I can enjoy reading this book.
